摘要 在這一期的專刊中,我們試著回到不同的社會情境與歷史現場,在各種不同的政治與經濟現實條件下,來討論人群如何透過自主的結群方式來創造共享日常生活的物質生活,乃至形成特有的生活價值以及情感表現方式等等。在此專刊的四篇文章中,便側重於客家族群在物質與生計層面所採取生存策略的討論,其中包括了鄭靜的〈土樓與人口流動:清代以來閩西南的土樓建築變革〉;李翹宏的〈清代番地治理與族群地權關係:以鳳山溪流域的竹塹社與客家佃戶為例〉;林桂玲的〈清代北台灣客家嘗會:以竹塹六張犁林家「先坤公嘗」為例〉以及林欣宜的〈「財產是十四大庄公共」:日本統治前期新竹枋寮義民廟廟產經理的制度化〉等四篇文章。在這四篇文章中,一個貫穿的議題是:自18世紀商品化的過程中,客家族群如何動員起來:在經歷了原鄉地理上的條件限制、他們如何在此基礎上展開社會結群並且移居海外的生活方式,在定居臺灣後,他們如何採取其社會資源來面對更大的社會與政治的挑戰?
Abstract The theme of this special issue is about the internal dynamics of the Hakka social organization. All four essays examine the social organization, human mobility and economic activities of the Hakka people in various locales and historical periods. The first essay analyses the human mobility and shareholding type of living arrangements among the Hakkas and other people in the hilly region of southwestern Fujian since the eighteenth century. The other three essays deal with the commercialized agricultural activities of the Hakka migrants as well as how they (re-)constructed socio-economic networks through ancestral-cult rituals and organization in their settlements in northern Taiwan from the eighteenth to early twentieth century.
